Simtec celebrates 25 years of growing its footprint in the field of digital engineering. This journey began in 2001 in Thessaloniki and has since expanded to cover 12 countries, with 6 offices in Thessaloniki, Athens, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Budapest, and Bucharest. Simtec, as the leading Certified Channel Partner of Ansys (now part of Synopsys) in Eastern Europe, has played a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge simulation software and services across the region. Back in 2001, simulation was perceived as an excessive luxury. Simtec’s engineers managed to convert this perception to today’s view of simulation as a mandatory tool for digital engineering excellence.
“The main component of Simtec’s growth over the past 25 years is our people; they have been the heart and soul of our growth every single day. Now, with Synopsys acquiring Ansys, Simtec’s future is even brighter, as a new large window of opportunities has just opened,” said Dr. Ourania Faltsi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Simtec.
Strategic Initiative: Enhancing Customer Experience
Simtec has grown its team regionally, strengthening both technical expertise and the quality of customer service. The company’s growth plan is to enhance strategic selling, with customers at the epicenter, offering complementary technology services while empowering partnerships through multi-year agreements that will provide unrestricted access to the full portfolio of Ansys (now part of Synopsys). The company will further strengthen its subsidiaries so they can be even more successful in alignment with local circumstances, customer expectations and cultural mentality. Simtec is also now offering specialized enablement and mentoring programs that are tailored to the customers and will aid companies maximize return on investment in digital engineering.
Offered Portfolio Evolution
From day one, Simtec’s mission has been clear: to empower engineers and organizations in their pursuit of innovation. Today, the company provides advanced Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural mechanics, Electromagnetics/Electronics, Optics and Photonics Analysis. The company’s portfolio has expanded to include the full Ansys suite, including materials management, embedded software and digital missions engineering capabilities. Today the company is actively preparing to resell and support the Synopsys Electronic Design Automation (EDA) portfolio: custom and digital IC design, verification, design for test (DfT) and IP.
Investing in R&D
Simtec’s steadily growing revenue is built upon sustained investments in hardware infrastructure, security and R&D. The company’s most recent R&D activity involves developing MIXYS, a web-based simulation app that delivers fast results with minimal effort, for industrial mixing applications, using CFD and AI in the background (publicly funded project, currently under alpha testing). Simtec will continue to pursue collaboration opportunities and will focus on enhancing its bonds with the academic and the R&D ecosystem of the region.
Looking Forward
Every step of Simtec’s 25-year journey has been shaped by a passion for technical excellence, commitment to high-quality customer support and continuous investment in science and technology. Looking forward, the company is well-positioned to continue its mission with greater momentum than ever before: to empower engineers in their hunt for innovation. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey!
